May 11th, 2025 – Orcas & Humpbacks for Mother’s Day!
On May 11th we celebrated Mother’s Day with some special guests! In the morning we had a wonderful encounter with a female Humpback known as BCX1057 ‘Divot’ 🙂 We encountered Divot near Middle Bank heading towards San Juan Island. In the afternoon we first encountered two Humpbacks east of Race. The Humpback were ID as the 2023 and 2019 calves of Graze BCY0523! Then after a stop at Race we heard two Orcas had been spotted near Trial Island. As soon as we got on scene we recognized T63 ‘Chainsaw, born in 1978 and T65, born prior to 1968 and believed to be T63’s Mom or Sister 🙂
